In a town renowned for its deeply rooted Catholic traditions, a new wellness center has opened its doors, offering a unique range of community services.
The 7-Day Wellness Center, a project of Seventh-day Adventist believers, officially opened on Sept. 3, 2025, in Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The center, which does not have a formal church structure, was established to serve the community through practical acts of care rather than religious conversion. It was funded by a group of students and teachers from the Wisconsin Academy, whose 2020 mission trip plans were canceled due to the pandemic.
The group decided to redirect their funds to build a permanent center that could continue to serve the town. Rather than letting their efforts go to waste, the group chose to invest their funds in something lasting—a place that would still serve, even if the mission couldn't move.
Finally, on Sept. 3, 2025, the center opened its doors—not with a ribbon-cutting, but with open arms.
The 7-Day Wellness Center is designed to be a sanctuary of service—a space where faith meets action—not solely to convert but to care. Not just to preach, but to practice what love truly looks like.
It is open seven days a week and provides a variety of free services. From Monday to Friday, it offers health booths, free massages, blood sugar tests, and family wellness sessions.
On Saturdays, a day of worship for Adventists, the center hosts a quiet gathering for prayer and discussion. On Sundays, it provides free tutorials and reading programs for children.
The center also features a mini-library, a massage and therapy room, and offers health education, counseling, and nutritional advice. Soon, a corner café will serve veggie lumpia, homemade cinnamon bread, and refreshing soy milk
A volunteer shared, "We didn't come to preach. We came to serve. And in doing so, people's hearts opened—sometimes more than words ever could."
The 7-Day Wellness Center may not have the Ten Commandments on its front porch or a choir in its halls. But here, in this vibrant little space tucked away in a Catholic stronghold, something sacred is happening. A tired town is finding new energy. Children are finding joy in learning. And people are finding healing—inside and out.
The center is not just a wellness haven. It's a home to miracles in disguise—changing lives, one kind act at a time.
