A week-long evangelistic outreach in Maharlika, Barangay Sambag II, concluded on May 2, 2026, resulting in the baptism of 11 new believers at the Capitol Center Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church.

The initiative, dubbed the "Teacher’s Crusade," was organized by the Capitol Center SDA Elementary School, Inc. Held from April 26 to May 1, the program integrated community service through a Vacation Bible School (VBS) and health and family life seminars.

Integrated Community Services

The mission kicked off on April 26 with a comprehensive medical outreach at the Maharlika Gym, providing residents with a wide array of essential health services. The initiative featured medical and dental consultations, including tooth extractions and circumcisions, as well as specialized care such as ophthalmology services and blood testing. To further promote community wellness, the event also offered free massages and distributed vital medicines to those in need.

Nightly Seminars and Health Education

The outreach continued each evening with the ‘Happy Family Seminar,’ conducted by Gerardo C. Cleto, a Grade V teacher. The sessions, which regularly drew over 50 attendees, paired gospel messages with practical health lectures delivered by invited medical practitioners.

By May 1, three residents had formally committed to the faith, and 11 individuals chose to be baptized on the Sabbath.

Collaborative Effort

The success of the crusade was attributed to the cooperation between the Capitol Center SDA Elementary School, the Capitol Center SDA Church, and local government officials.

"This endeavor reflects the dedication and unity of our school and church boards," a church leader stated, expressing specific gratitude to Pastor Kim Bernabe Felias, the church pastor of Capitol Center SDA Church, for his leadership.

Local support was also provided by the Maharlika barangay council, led by Barangay Captain Hon. Keith Noel Wenceslao, who facilitated the use of community facilities for the event.

Overall, the church leaders credited the mission's success to the collective efforts of donors, volunteers, workers, and church members, noting that the program had reached out to the urban community of Cebu City.
