Two simultaneous weeklong evangelistic outreaches by Word Sent Care Group in Sta. Fe, Cebu, resulted in 40 baptisms and several individuals receiving Bible studies.
The outreaches, themed “Hope for the End-Time Crisis,” was held from July 12 to 19 at two locations in Cebu: the National Housing Authority in Kabac, Bantayan, and Okoy, Sta. Fe.
Word Sent Care Group is one of the East Central Philippine Union Conference’s care groups, which aimed to hold evangelistic crusades at least once a year.
The group divided its members between the two sites to support the church’s mission through targeted outreach.
Event Highlights
Pastor Jomar Compuesto, executive secretary of the East Central Philippine Union Conference, conducted the nightly gospel seminar at the National Housing Authority in Kabac, Bantayan, where organizers reported 103 attendees.
The second site was in Okoy, Sta. Fe, where Pastor Gaudencio Buque Jr., ministerial association secretary, family and chaplaincy ministries director for the ECPUC, was the nightly speaker. Church members reported 200 attendees.
Church members supported the outreach through prayer, financial assistance and encouragement. Organizers said the consistent nightly attendance of members contributed to the program’s success.
Future Nurture
Following the event, church leaders have initiated a follow-up plan to ensure the spiritual growth of the 40 newly baptized members. The strategy includes distributing Bibles for personal study and assigning church members to conduct regular visits and monitoring.
Reflecting on the mission, Compuesto emphasized the urgency of continued outreach. “The church must continue the endeavor of winning souls and must understand that the church exists for mission.”
In addition, a church member highlighted the receptiveness of the local population, stating, “People are waiting to be reached and be told of the Gospel.”
