In response to the unionwide simultaneous evangelism initiative of the Adventist-laymen’s Services and Industries (ASI), in collaboration with the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL) department, specifically the Adventist Professionals (Ad Pro), the Adventist Church in Samar Mission has launched a multi-site simultaneous evangelism campaign across its territory.
The initiative, officially open from June 28 through July 4, mobilizes a total of 94 locations for the evangelistic efforts.
Out of the planned itinerary, 44 crusades have been completed, 33 are ongoing, and 17 more are scheduled to follow.
The extensive mission, which blends gospel outreach with health and livelihood lectures, targets diverse sectors of society—ranging from former combatants or government returnees to local political elites.
To document the progress of the multi-site deployment, a team from the East Central Philippine Union Conference recently conducted site visits. Christial Abenir, serving as the ECPUC legal, human resources, and Planned Giving and Trust Services director, as well as the union’s PARL coordinator, headed the round.
Tailored Outreach for Diverse Communities
The visit witnessed various approaches across four key locations in the province:
Reintegration Support at Balay Darangpan: In Barangay Dalakit, Catarman, the campaign specifically focused on former rebels undergoing a three-month government rehabilitation program. Loretta Caparic, a house parent at the facility, noted that the meetings serve as a crucial pillar in facilitating the returnees’ transition back into mainstream society.
The “Growing Family” Crusade: Held in Barangay Polangi, Catarman District, this site features nightly lectures led by Adventist professionals. The curriculum alternates speakers based on their secular expertise; medical professionals deliver health lectures, nutritionists highlight practical wellness like the importance of breakfast, and distinct speakers handle the nightly gospel and moral messages.
Elite and Professional Gathering: In a non-denominational effort to reach the working and ruling classes, the Abayon family—former prominent political leaders—hosted meetings at their residence. Attended by 15 to 30 local elites and professionals, the gatherings featured health lectures by Pastor Anthony Garzon and spiritual insights from a former congressman.
Community Crusade at Baybay Covered Court: Facilitated by the Airport Village Church women and youth ministry department, the event drew a general audience of 76 attendees, with Pastor Anthony Pelostratos serving as the main speaker.
Leaders and facilitators report that the ongoing province-wide mission continues to yield significant engagement, successfully bridging spiritual outreach with practical community development.
