Thirty leaders gathered at Negros Oriental-Siquijor Mission (NSM) Headquarters on Aug. 21 and 22 for the Evangelism Orientation. The event included NSM administrators, directors, and district pastors, aiming to enhance outreach efforts and prepare for upcoming ministry work.
Focusing on Discipleship
Guest speaker Pastor Jerson P. Arellano, retired D.Min., led the core of the orientation and shared profound insights into effective outreach. Rather than relying on complex programs, the sessions emphasized a simple yet proven effective model rooted in God’s design: utilizing discipleship as the primary method of evangelism.
Renewed Commitment
Leaders said the event renewed pastors’ enthusiasm for evangelism. They affirmed that they plan to involve church members in evangelism efforts and committed to a simple, discipleship-based model.
“A key takeaway from the orientation was that we were inspired to actively involve church members in the evangelism process, ensuring the movement extends beyond leadership and reaches deep into local congregations,” one attending pastor shared.
Pastor Eliezer “Joer” Barlizo Jr., first president of the East Central Philippine Union Conference (ECPUC), addressed all pastors who attended the event: “Thank you for your sincere dedication. When you commit to mobilizing our church members and returning to God’s design of making disciples, you aren’t just launching a program—you are unlocking the true spiritual potential of our congregations.”
As the program creator preparing the Central Philippine Union Conference (CPUC) for the OneVoice27: Mission for All initiative, Barlizo expressed immense joy over the turnout. Pastors and church leaders—including first-time attendees from neighboring missions and conferences where he had previously run the program—pledged their unwavering support.
Meanwhile, Pastor Jomar Compuesto, executive secretary for the ECPUC, also expressed appreciation for the response from his colleagues in the pastoral ministry.
“Remember that you do not walk this path alone. The administration is fully behind you, ready to resource, support, and pray for you as you take these simple yet powerful models back to your local fields. Let us press forward with courage, knowing that when we align our work with His design, He will yield the harvest,” Compuesto said. “And as a reminder from Galatians 6:9, let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
