The East Central Philippine Union Conference (ECPUC) joined the global launch of the OneVoice27: Mission for All initiative Sept. 5, with churches across its territory participating.
Churches followed a synchronized program from Sabbath School through afternoon activities, marking a coordinated day of outreach and digital engagement for Seventh-day Adventists across the union.
A Unified Message Across the Pulpits
Speakers at participating churches delivered a unified message about the launch’s significance during the morning service leading up to the divine worship hour.
Congregations reached the highlight of the divine worship service by participating in a solemn commitment ceremony. Members signed physical commitment cards, pledging to speak with “one voice and one message” by turning their personal social media platforms into virtual pulpits.
Through their online networks, members committed to proclaiming that Jesus is humanity’s only hope because “He only can make all things new.”
Afternoon Engagement and Virtual Fellowship
The momentum continued into Sabbath afternoon with a lineup of interactive, high-energy virtual events. Churches across the territory tuned in to the live broadcast on the official Facebook and YouTube pages of ECPUC and Hope Channel Central Philippines, generating close to 9,000 total views.
The afternoon series of events opened with a virtual quiz bowl covering the first chapters of The Desire of Ages, The Great Controversy, and the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventists.
Following the quiz bowl, congregations across the ECPUC territory shared real-time updates and video broadcasts showing how their local churches participated in the global launch, led by the East Visayan Conference with 45 submissions, the Central Visayan Conference with 37 submissions, the Negros Oriental-Siquijor Mission with 20 submissions, and the Samar Mission with 7 submissions, alongside 3 unlabeled entries.
However, due to poor internet connections, many delayed live reports will be submitted later, prompting ECPUC leaders to decide to continue live reporting on Sept. 12.
Singing groups from across the union added a special touch to the live reports with musical numbers between church presentations. Visiting guest Ritche Carbajal from the USA also delighted listeners with a live piano performance.
“I am so amazed at how ECPUC embraces the OneVoice27 initiative. In every church, you see uniform banners and everyone wearing blue T-shirts, especially printed for the event. The support and cooperation are indeed overwhelming,” Carbajal said.
Pastor Carlito Quidet, communication director for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, also came personally to witness the massive launch in Metro Cebu. He expressed appreciation for the ECPUC leadership upon seeing how united and impactful the churches are in supporting the global initiative.
Addressing the audience, Quidet shared a message emphasizing the urgency of spreading the gospel:
“Atong gamiton ang atong mga cellphone, atong sultihan ang mga tawo nga anaa sa atong palibot; kay anaa kanato ang kahayag, sultihan nato nga aduna kitay paglaum.” (Let us use our cellphones; let us speak to the people around us. Since we have the light, let us spread the word that we have hope.)
A Visionary Call to Action
The event closed with a commitment message delivered by Pastor Eliezer “Joer” Barlizo Jr., president of the ECPUC. He encouraged the congregation to stay steadfast in their faith and prayer through all life’s trials.
Emphasizing global unity in the church’s mission, he called all church leaders and ordained pastors to come forward and invited the entire congregation to stand, holding their Bibles and cellphones over their hearts, as he dedicated the entire Adventist Church across the East Central Philippines in prayer.
“In the name of the East Central Philippine Union Conference, and on behalf of my fellow officers, Pastor Jomar Compuesto, our executive secretary, and Pastor Rene Inapan, our treasurer, we extend our gratitude to everyone for your support for the work of the Lord,” Pastor Barlizo said.
With the successful rollout of OneVoice27 today, ECPUC leadership hopes to see an ongoing, active digital footprint from its members as they carry the mission forward into the months ahead.
