ALISAY, Philippines — The East Central Philippine Union Conference (ECPUC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church held its joint workers’ meeting via Zoom this morning, mobilizing church leadership to prepare for the launch of “OneVoice27,” a global evangelistic initiative scheduled for Sept. 5, 2026.
OneVoice27 is a worldwide mission effort designed to unite church members, leaders and institutions in a coordinated push to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. The campaign will culminate in a global outreach event in September 2027, a date chosen to commemorate the 2,000th anniversary of Jesus’ baptism and anointing.
Workers from missions, conferences, educational, and medical institutions across the ECPUC joined the virtual meeting. Meanwhile, health directors from these institutions attended in person at the ECPUC headquarters on Gorordo Ave. in Cebu City, as part of their own advisory meetings held July 13–14. Dr. Ma. Rizaline Alfanoso, health ministries director for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, spearheaded the health ministries strategic planning and alignment advisory.
During the joint meeting, Pastor Jeter Canoy, Adventist World Radio (AWR) coordinator for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, called for a return to an ecclesiastical leadership model grounded in the philotimiumai (highest ambition) of the Apostle Paul.
“Digitalization allows our message to reach the global stage, but the actual transformation happens in the ‘hard territories’ — the local barangays and the geographically challenging fields,” the guest speaker noted, emphasizing that true church growth stems from prayer-fueled, community-focused evangelism rather than competitive tactics.
Alfanoso presented a strategic framework for the health ministries department, outlining a multi-phased approach that combines digital media with community-based health expos. By integrating health outreach with long-term pastoral follow-up and Bible studies, the strategy seeks to use wellness programs as a foundation for planting new churches.
“By the end of our cycle, our ultimate goal is not just a healthier community, but a newly planted church rooted in that same community,” Alfanoso said. “We aren’t just treating patients; we are preparing souls for the Kingdom.”
Pastor Godofredo Romanillos Jr., ECPUC director for communication, Sabbath School and Personal Ministries, unveiled the implementation timeline and roadmap. The plan focuses on spiritual preparation, facilitates deep study of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs, The Desire of Ages, and the biblical books of Daniel and Revelation, and utilizes digital platforms to spread the message of hope.
For the Sept. 5 launch, Pastor Jomar Compuesto, ECPUC executive secretary, outlined a mandatory program for all local churches and entities across the territory. The day will feature a morning session dedicated to unified message themes and commitment card signings, followed by an afternoon program that includes a The Great Controversy book quiz and institutional mission reports, and commitment service.
On the other hand, Pastor Renito Inapan, ECPUC treasurer, emphasized that each entity must take a proactive approach to budget commitments, ensuring that financial resources are carefully allocated to support the year-long initiative.
Following a review of preparation reports from mission and conference presidents, Pastor Eliezer Barlizo Jr. commended the leadership for their innovation.
“I’m so glad at how you are resourceful and efficient in your plans of implementation,” Barlizo said. “May the Lord continually bless and guide us powerfully as we respond to His commission call that all may be reached by the message of hope and love, and then He will come.”
While the meeting concluded with a clear implementation roadmap, Barlizo noted that additional sessions are planned to ensure every institution remains fully prepared for the September launch.
