PAKNAAN, Mandaue City— A weeklong evangelistic and health outreach program for residents in temporary shelters at Paknaan, Mandaue City, concluded Saturday at the Paknaan Home Division.
The elder-and women-led evangelistic crusade, which ran from Oct. 11-17 at Ganghaan, Zone Ahos, Paknaan, kicked off with a medical mission that provided free health services to at least 50 community members.
Organized by the district’s elders and the women’s department, the initiative was designed to integrate the groups into the district’s broader missionary work.
Church elders and women’s ministry leaders selected the venue to reach a thriving community they described as eager for spiritual connection, despite their temporary living conditions. Ten regular Bible students attended the event, along with supporting church members.
Before the formal launch, church members across the district conducted home visits and held evening worship sessions with residents.
Throughout the week, various churches within the district sponsored the nightly programs. It featured a blended format of health lectures and gospel presentations, supported by musical performances that traditionally opened with the hymn “Adto ta sa Langit.”
Leaders said the event’s immediate impact was helping residents feel remembered and valued by the broader community.
Moving forward, the district plans to provide continued emotional, spiritual and financial support to sustain the growing missionary work at the Paknaan Home Division.
Although the weeklong event has officially concluded, church elders said the future of the outreach effort looks promising. While the Paknaan Home Division remains largely unentered by the gospel, the initiative established a strong spiritual foothold, with several residents committing to attend regular Bible studies moving forward.
“I believe the seeds we planted will soon grow and that God will allow us to see the harvest,” a church elder said, expressing hope for more community outreach programs in the future.
