MONDRAGON, Northern Samar — More than 60 literature evangelists gathered at Tatay Dadoy’s Beach Resort from May 20-24 for the Samar-Wide Literature Evangelist Fellowship and Pre-Literature Ministry Seminar (LMS) training to strengthen their spiritual focus and refine their missionary skills.

It also aimed to nurture a Christ-centered fellowship that encourages dedication, unity, and excellence in the ministry of sharing the gospel through literature.

The five-day event drew 62 official delegates under the theme “Grounded in the Bible, Focused on the Mission.” It was designed to unite and spiritually revitalize the local literature ministry workforce while promoting teamwork and cooperation among members.

“The fellowship strengthened my faith and renewed my commitment to God’s work,” one attendee said in an interview.

Other participants also shared that the devotional messages inspired them to become more prayerful and mission-focused, leaving them spiritually refreshed.

The training schedule followed a structured daily pattern, pairing morning devotionals and lectures with afternoon team-building exercises and group games.

Key leaders led the instructional sessions, including Pastor Toneri Gaa, publishing and Spirit of Prophecy director for the East Central Philippines Union Conference. He delivered presentations on leadership dynamics, the traits of successful evangelists, and character development.

Pastor Norberto Pamisa, the Philippine Publishing House vice president for marketing, spoke on the mechanics of soul-winning and workplace diligence. Instead of seeing literature evangelism as just selling books, he wanted them to view every interaction as a structured opportunity to connect people to God, move them toward salvation, and “hasten the day” of Christ’s return.

Wilfredo Fugoso Sr., an auditor for the Samar Mission and the Home Health Education Service coordinator, conducted sessions on salesmanship techniques and the administrative aspects of literature ministry. These topics ensure accountability, prevent financial mishaps, and protect the mission’s integrity.

On the other hand, Pastoror Antonio Gobi Jr. delivered a call to the publishing ministry, inspiring the delegates to view literature evangelism not just as a job, but as a divine appointment that demands a lifelong or renewed commitment.

One of the event’s highlights featured an awards ceremony recognizing the top three literature evangelists for sales accumulated from January through April. Prizes were given to the top 3 LEs, while consolation prizes  were also distributed among the participating  groups.

One of the leaders said that the training provided participants with practical evangelism strategies for both printed and digital materials. “It also encouraged me to commit more sincerely to the ministry through the testimonies and experiences of the LEs.

More participants shared gaining a stronger commitment to prayer and Bible study, and were encouraged to reach more people with messages of hope, salvation, and Christian living.

With the success of the Samar-Wide Literature Evangelist Fellowship, leaders planned to schedule another event like this every two years.
