Adventist Hospital-Calbayog, Inc. (AHCI) officially opened its modernized medical facilities and introduced its new leadership team during a joint inauguration and installation ceremony on May 7 at the Center of Influence building.

The event marked the official commissioning of the hospital’s newly cemented parking area and its newly acquired X-ray and CT scan machinery, which hospital officials say will immediately enhance the quality of diagnostic care available to local patients.

The ceremony also served as the official installation of AHCI’s newly elected officers, department heads, and members of the Board of Trustees.

In his inaugural address, AHCI President Jhonely J. Tero outlined a vision for collaborative growth and financial stability, despite years of local challenges.

“United in one heart, one vision, and one mission, guided by prudent stewardship; by the grace of God, we can build a financially sustainable and stable Adventist Hospital-Calbayog, where excellence in healthcare, in operations, and a Christ-centered service flourish for the glory of God,” Tero said.

The event began on the ground floor of the COI Building with a thanksgiving message from Pastor Antonio C. Gobi Jr., Samar Mission president and board member, followed by a dedicatory litany and a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. Daniel Guevarra, president of the Calbayog District Elders’ Council, closed the program’s opening portion.

Elias Y. Apacible, president of Adventist Medical Center-Manila, delivered the keynote address at the installation ceremony, encouraging the new officers to lead with integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to service.

After the oath-taking, attendees gathered on the third floor of the COI Building for a recognition dinner honoring the hospital’s financial sponsors. The event featured musical performances and congratulatory messages from Adventist hospital administrators from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Hospital staff noted that the event was successful despite logistical challenges during planning, including budget constraints, limited preparation time, technical issues, and hot, unpredictable weather.

Attendees expressed optimism about the hospital’s future and the collaboration shown by sister institutions.

“It was a memorable and inspiring event,” said Rizzah May Arididon, officer-in-charge of the hospital’s PhilHealth Claims Department.

Sunshine Yvonne Bacamante, a hospital accountant, noted the value of the networking opportunities the event provided. “I was very happy to meet other administrators from other hospitals and our sponsors, and to fellowship with them,” Bacamante said.

Hospital organizers stated that future plans for the San Policarpo site will prioritize expansion, technological modernization, and service upgrades to better serve patients and staff.

Roy Perez, president and CEO of Adventist International Health System Philippines, Inc., congratulated the newly elected president, along with his management team. He expressed his desire and prayers that the leadership would be blessed with abundant wisdom to guide their decisions, the strength to face challenges, and a spirit of unity that fosters collaboration among their team.

“We wish you a clear and inspiring vision as you lead the hospital toward a brighter future,” he said. “We are truly excited by the significant financial growth exhibited by AH Calbayog. The hospital’s impressive performance over the past year, coupled with the promising financial trajectory we are observing this year, indicates a strong upward trend. These encouraging results highlight not only our improved operational efficiency but also the emergence of new and brighter opportunities on the horizon.
