The Southeast Bohol District successfully conducted the “Alive in Jesus” (AIJ) Vacation Bible Experience (VBX) from May 4–9, 2026, at the Poblacion Seventh-day Adventist Church in Candijay, Bohol.
This event served as the practical application of the Cactusville theme, following the district’s recent “reecho” training on the new AIJ curriculum. By implementing this series, local leaders turned theoretical training into a vibrant, Christ-centered reality for the community’s children.
The Cactusville: Where Kids Are Called to Follow Jesus series, developed by the General Conference, is an immersive “Old West” adventure designed to help children discover that God has a unique purpose for their lives.
Over the course of the program, children explore five primary themes—being called to be different, to be faithful, to forgive, to serve, and to give. These lessons are anchored in the stories of biblical figures like John the Baptist, Abraham, Joseph, and Deborah, culminating in the ultimate example of Christ’s love. Every activity is centered on 2 Timothy 1:9, reinforcing the idea that God’s call is a holy and intentional gift.
The Cactusville VBEx in Poblacion Church gathered 12 children who actively participated in the various spiritual, educational, and recreational activities prepared throughout the week. The children enjoyed Bible storytelling, singing, games, crafts, and other learning experiences as designed and provided by the series.
“The VBX offered the children a meaningful opportunity to learn more about God’s love while building friendships and developing Christian values in a joyful, Christ-centered environment,” Lorna Ligan, the VBEx teacher and facilitator, shared. “They are so motivated and excited to attend the class every day.
Pastor Aron Alolod, the pastor of the Southeast Bohol District, acknowledged that second to the Almighty’s providence and guidance, the dedication and cooperation of the church leaders, teachers, volunteers, parents, and members who willingly shared their time and effort for this ministry made the event successful.
“We praise and thank God for His guidance, protection, and blessings throughout the entire event,” Pastor Alolod said. He also announced that the Sabbath School teachers will hold another VBEx next summer.
