DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Twenty-nine couples from the South-Central Dumaguete Seventh-day Adventist Church reaffirmed their marriage vows Feb. 28 during a ceremony at the DCCO Hotel Convention Center.

The event, themed “Bound by Faith, United by Love,” served as the conclusion of a weeklong marriage enrichment program. Organized by the church’s Family Ministries Department, the ceremony emphasized the role of faith-based foundations in modern relationships.

“This is a very significant ceremony because we have come here to renew our vows and highlight our commitment to one another,” Pastor Joel Banday said, a retired pastor and lead organizer for the Family Ministries Department.

The participating couples, dressed in formal bridal attire, took part in a symbolic processional where husbands met their wives halfway down the aisle with floral offerings. Each couple was introduced by m Daisy Du, the mistress of ceremonies, who shared brief reflections on their respective histories and personal milestones.

Pastor Eliezer “Joer” Barlizo Jr., president of the East Central Philippine Union Conference, delivered the keynote address. Drawing on his experience in pastoral ministry, Barlizo used the acronym “CARE” — standing for Christ-centered, Adoration, Renewing commitment, and Eternity-focused — to outline his philosophy for marital longevity.

“God’s presence strengthens [couples] through every hardship and temptation,” Barlizo said, urging the participants to maintain spiritual practices like prayer and Scripture study within the home.

The event was attended by several church leaders, including Pastor Elly Abejero, president of the Negros Oriental-Siquijor Mission; his wife, Caryl; NSM women, children, and family ministries coordinator; and Pastor Rodulfo Ceniza, NSM auditor.

Following the formal vow renewal, couples moved to a decorated stage for photographs before a concluding reception.
