TALISAY CITY, Cebu — Feb. 23, 2025 — Central Visayan Conference Pathfinder Elementary Camporee brought together more than 360 church school students from across the region for a four-day spiritual and educational event held at Adventist Academy Cebu in Bulacao, Talisay City, from Feb. 19 to 23.

The camporee, aimed at grades 4 to 6 pupils, was organized by the Pathfinder directors and teachers from various church schools within the CVC. Students were given a unique opportunity to experience teamwork, spiritual growth, and skill-building activities while being led by their dedicated mentors.

The camporee began with a grand arrival and tent-pitching activity on the morning of Feb. 19. The campers settled around the oval field of AAC, preparing for the exciting days ahead. The event kicked off with a lively grand parade showcasing the unity and spirit of the children from different schools across the region.

The parade was followed by a special Pathfinder Parade Ceremony, which was performed by junior high school students from Adventist Academy Cebu. The ceremony featured impressive performances that highlighted the campers' discipline and enthusiasm. Notable guests included Masterguide Lemuel Banday, education director for the Central Philippine Union Conference, with associate Liza Facon, and Pastor Isaias Guisando, education superintendent of the Central Visayan Conference.

Both MG Banday and Pastor Guisando emphasized the importance of having Jesus in their lives and continuing to pursue their dreams. Their encouraging words inspired the campers to stay focused on their faith and aspirations as they moved forward in life.

Each evening, campers were treated to talent presentations that demonstrated their growing mastery of the Bible and their ability to showcase their unique gifts and talents. From Bible recitations to musical performances, the talent nights highlighted the diversity and creativity of the young Pathfinders.

On Thursday evening, the campers were unexpectedly hit by a heavy downpour that temporarily disrupted their activities. The rain forced the evacuation of campers to the school gymnasium and several classrooms for shelter. Despite this setback, the spirit of the camp remained strong.

The Sabbath School program, held in the school's gymnasium, was a key event highlight. Each school presented its talents in delivering the sermon and singing, enriching the spiritual experience for all involved.

During the divine service, Pastor Seth Esmeralda delivered a sermon that inspired the campers to deepen their relationship with Christ.

The crowning moment of the camporee was when 28 precious children from different church schools across the CVC decided to be baptized. The baptism ceremony displayed the transformative power of the camporee experience, marking the beginning of a new chapter of faith for these young individuals.

A social gathering followed at night, where all the campers enjoyed a night of games and fun while getting to know more friends and acquaintances.

Relyn Mindalano, an elementary faculty of AAC, shared her impression of the event. She said, "The camporee was an exciting event designed for young Pathfinders. Participants could engage in various outdoor activities, team-building exercises, and opportunities for spiritual growth. It also allows elementary students to develop new skills, make friends, and enjoy themselves in a safe and supportive environment."

One of the campers also said, "It was really fun, but I also learned from the challenges. Those Bible story presentations were great, but most of all, we learned a lot of spiritual things."

Most of the campers left early in the morning, wishing the event would continue despite the inconveniences they faced whenever it rained. Yet, beyond the fun and challenges they experienced together, they took home valuable insights and lessons that would guide them spiritually as they grew older.

Overall, the camporee was a memorable and spiritually enriching experience. Campers formed friendships, learned new skills, and deepened their faith, reminding everyone that all things are possible with Jesus in their lives.
